the joys of dinkytown

This is a completely geographical TOTH/WOTF. and it includes como and the westbank. all campus related areas, really.

TOTH

1) Sam Walker.
Wow, so fate had a way of working itself out. or i had a small case of karma. it'll be clear soon. so I'm walking home frombeing stood up by Cooper and dealing with my bike hell. But then I recognize a manly mustache shirt walking towards me. I knew there were some staches at the U, but as I got closer I knew that shaggy, emo hair type. It was none other than nitorous stache, sam walker. he's also the only stach i know besides of course cousin max. * Anyway, I had just applied for graduation and had a great day of work. And I was walking to jill's, where I was going to meet up with her and bridget to bike to surdyk's, then play kickball and go to the faux wedding/champagne party. after some typical pleasantries and surprise-spoiling, I asked if either one had a gardner's 12. ( see i have the eleventh, but the class needed twelfth so i would have had to buy it or use fred's copy in the lab) But sam had a copy in his car and has loaned it to me for a whole semester!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AWWWWWW, that's like 75-100 he saved me. And it was in his car, a halfblock away!!!!

2) SECIA/ VAN CLEVE PARK. so andrew and i were biking home and we came upon the SECIA neighborhood picnic. they had lots of free food and shit. including some lame ass music! but anyway, I got the vegetarian ticket, which consisted of a cookie, chipotle chips and guacamole, a breugers "square bagel" veggie sandwich (with everything I liked and no cheese), and a diet coke. then I got another copy of the tenants' thing and talked to a representative from USLS, our legal service. and there was free corn on the cob and candy. and a bunch of stuid shit, like politicians, "community gardeners," a bounce thing, etc.
and i saw about a dozen of my friends. then after eating guacamole a bunch, we all biked the three blocks farther to andrew's.
I also had the nicest ladys there on tuesday when I went to vote. and I had a great game of kick ball there last night!

3)Surdyks. so we went there and it was oktoberfest. how sweet is that? and we had no idea. so there were a ton of free samples in the store (seriously, like a dozen!) and a bunch of cheap beer in an "unadvertised special." i spent seventeen dollars on a bottle of champagne, dazed and infused and breckenridge outmeal stout. on top of that, I got a ton of free pretzels, a beer cozy that says "MINNEAPOLIS 1" and a flower wreath thing the "german" girls handing out beer were supposed to be wearing.

4) All the running into graham has been great, too! seriously, I ran into him on the first day of school. and i saw him, then justin, then andrew in twenty minutes of nicholson. but i see graham a lot, and it always leads to hanging out. maybe even beer and some awesome eggplant parmesan! and then some illegal watching something. last week he showed me the borat singing about jews video!

Wag of the Finger

1) Dinkytown. so I came out of al's on wednesday, and my bike was knocked over and on the ground. it had been parked on the bike rack in front of duffy's. well, i don't know what happened. i'm assuming it was an accident, but someone didn't try to ameliorate it.anyway, my back tire was way warped and would not turn.so i had to get a new rear tire, and how much did it cost? 55!!!

2)me. so here i have all this shit to do. a couple of parties, ashley's gallery opening, the damien hirst reception at flanders, out. but no, I am here at home tired because instead of napping after al's, i went to fred's, where I was locked out for a half hour of course, and andrew had my key, which was stolen from his house. then i went to the awesome picnic, then andrew's for hookah. then here. and then i realized it was eight and i hadn't napped or showered and was wearing al's clothes. today I spilled smearing butten all over my shirt. so i showered and not here I am. and i feel like maybe's it's too late to go to nap. it's 851 already. I better go out?

3) getting kicked off the roles for voting at van cleve. I guess when i renewed my license, I was automatically deregistered in minneapolis and registered for brainerd. well, i was shocked at van cleve, and i had no utility bill, tuition bill or anyone to vouch for me at the time. drew was there doing the same thing. luckily, sarah was pregistered to vote and vouched for me, but we did it at tuttle. because when I moved to this side of como, that becamemy new ward. and i guess good for paul koering? just because he's gay isn't good enough reason for me to like him.

4) the dumb ass truck I actually saw stuck under the fifteenth ave railroad bridge. it'sless of a wag, than a pity shake, really. I had almost seen this occur once before, but that one sparked and squeaked out!

and who's my dinkytown crush of the week. there have been so many lately, more on that later. but i guess that guy i had the backyard party with last night. tim, i think. or maybe future coworker nile (gay)

* not my max kuehn. there are no gingers in my family.....
